Until the mid 1980’s the basic Brief remained in vogue. Some changes in the fly structure were offered by Cooper (now Jockey) with the Y shape. As well Munsingwear came up with the Kangaroo Pouch concept and the horizontal fly. 2 (x) ist , CK and others that followed came up with the fitted pouch brief design, that was essentially a formed cup pouch, somewhat snug and form-fitting in design. It was much shorter in length and sat at or below the waist line, so the underwear waist band did not stick over the pants or jeans. As well a long strand Pima cotton fiber was used which gave a fine textured feel to the fabric. Other material blends using cotton and lycra or elastane give this garment a body defining fit, because of the stretchiness added to the fabric. In comparison 100% cotton has very little stretch to it. Lately the trends by the designers is to use microfiber fabrics. Since then others have copied this concept in one form or another and it remains a mainstay in the brief. It offers a good degree of support and natural form-fitting comfort and the pouched area has a natural cavity for the erection to go. The pouched design has also taken on some interesting nuances as “enhancement of the package” marketing schemes.
The C Ring concept provides for you pulling through your genitals into a pouch that has a restricted oval or ring design on the backside. By using this design feature the genitals are pushed through and somewhat enhanced by the restricted opening and space that they are confined within. It gives the appearance of a fuller bulged look up front. Another design of the pouch is the “free floating” style. Here the pouched area is designed to put the genitals into a pouched area that is attached in a way to the base of the underwear, that it is lifted away from the body and the areas in between the usual leg space to a more forward and or down position. This type of feature allows for greater air circulation, keeping the sac cooler, the fabrics are almost always a microfiber type, so there is good moisture management and the pouch design has enough spacial area to allow for an erection to comfortably exist in an upward fashion. Because of the light stretchy microfiber form-fitting material, you hardly notice that you are wearing any undies at all.
Andrew Christian and Obviously are good examples of this option in design. Other free-floating designed pouches are not as stretchy or roomy, but thrust your package in a molded shape forward, to allow for a more enhanced bulged look that points forward and or upward. A thin stretchy cotton or microfiber polyester fabric is often found with this design include: Ergowear, Balls in One, Tulio and Intyman are good examples of this option in design.
I love a pair of briefs with a pouch that cups around my dick. For sure my favorite type of underwear. Not too tight but plenty of support for my boyz.
Always a favorite in my undies collection, especially when wearing snug jeans or shorts.
